It wasn't long ago that prairies covered the middle third of the country. For as far as the eye could see, seas of grass chased the horizon. Now these prairies are almost gone, so when you do get a chance to experience one, you don't soon forget it. Wake up as the sun peers through grasses on the horizon and a whole heap of prairie wildlife stretch out with you.
This recording will make you think about grasslands in a whole new light. Most people aren't aware there is so much life in a landscape of "just" grass, but this ecosystem was always full of so much life. We just lost touch with it. Listen closely and you can hear almost two dozen species calling out from this restored prairie landscape.
