There might be nothing more awe inspiring than standing under a canopy of the world's largest trees. As they tower hundreds of feet above you, you can't help but think of all of the events in the past that have happened since these trees have been alive.
In June of 2018 I found myself in this position, ready to greet the day as these trees have done for centuries. I listened as one-by-one, the forests birds woke from their slumber and started to fill the air with their own magic. What started as a few birds ended with scores creating a chorus of melody all around me.
The best part of this morning was how the sound traveled through the air and to my ears. The canopy high above me acted as a sort of echo chamber, allowing the sounds to reverberate all around, accentuated by the rich, dewy morning. It was as if I was sitting in a forest cathedral. This recording allows you to travel there and experience for yourself!
