Down south the forests in summer swarm with heavy humidity that paints the air blue. Cutting through the haze are towering southern longleaf pines hosting a swarm of bird species that welcome each day. And just by chance, you've happen to stumble upon a roost of endagered Red-cockaded Woodpeckers, ready to start their day with you.
This recording places you at the base of a tree where a family of endangered Red-cockaded Woodpeckers live. But before they wake, you are serenaded by many species of birds greeting the day, including the very prominent songs of Bachman's Sparrow. Because of the open nature of these forests, the songs seem to echo throughout, almost like a forest cathedral. Listening to this recording is a spiritual experience.
